Has anyone had telephone interview? I have one programmed for Saturday.

Since I’ve recently done another Ivy League interview, I was wondering whether there are going to be any significant differences. Any ideas? Or does it depend solely on the person?

Brown was the only school I had a telephone interview for so I don't know how it compares to the rest, but I can tell you that my interview was basically just a conversation. It lasted about an hour, and I spent 15 minutes talking about myself and the other 45 asking questions. There weren't any suprises or tricky questions so you have nothing to worry about!

Aha... and so I understand that you've asked such questions that only an insider can answer, right? (there's no point in asking questions that you can get answered easily, just by reading the website)
But still, 45 minutes is quite a long time. How many questions did you ask approx. and how many were you asked?

Don't think of it as an interview, but just as a conversation. I think the only questions I got asked was "tell me about yourself" and "why brown." The questions I asked were mostly about college life, athletics, how easy it was to find a job afterwards, how was the transition from Europe to the US, etc.

Thanks to you Dreamer for bringing up this subject. I got the call today. Unfortunately my mama picked up the phone. I am guessing that each alumn of each country is a specialist who can speak the second language. Is that true to yours? I would like an physical interview. Mama said he wanted the phone interview. Oh I am nervous. Good luck to me.

I think every applicant has an opportunity to have an interview either whether physically or on the phone. Did you finish the interview yet? If so, how did it go? What was it like?

I've had a phone interview for the ED round.[I got deffered]. my interviewer was an alumnus from my own country. she asked me many questions, but basically regular stuff like tell me abt you, why brown, why leave your country, accomplishments....that part was in English, then, when I asked my questions, we talked in Romanian, plus when I was telling her my interests she kept giving me examples of what I would find at Brown. that was it. an absolutely normal conversation. it lasted abt 75 minutes, but then again this also depends on your interviewer. also, I think that if possible, you will be interviewed by an alumnus from your own country.
good luck to you ;)

well, I haven't had an interview for HArvard. It seems like no alumni from Harvard available this year[none of the people whom I know that have applied to Harvard this year have had an interview. I've also had a phone interview with someone from Princeton. But that's about it.I'm sure that there also mus be other schools that have alumni from my country, but not among the schools that I have applied to.
so, how did your interview go?[you know....the interview matters only if you make a bad impression.... :p]

Mine went well. Really well I think. Although it was short (40min) compared to what I've heard around here, even yours :) But the conversation was consistent, we touched many topics, I found out new things about Brown etc.
I guess it's reasonable that the interview is not the most important, because one can feel nervous, and thus make it bad.
