hey guys, this question can be suited either for our experienced seniors or curious freshmens.
I heard that we can use NET id to pay for our bills( bursary bill +cornell card) online BUT i cant, since i dont have a US BANK ACCOUNT-and neither does my parents!

I know that there are a few ways of sending our tuition fee(wiring money or handing in the cheque on our arrival) before August 11th but i want to know what is the MOST CONVINIENT AND EFFECTIVE way of billing our money to cornell.

So all you internationals out there, lets try to find the BEST WAY we can make our payments!

I’m in the same situation. It has to be paid by August 11 and I don’t have any US bank. I enrolled in a tuitionpay plan that starts November 1 and ends 5 months later. BUT as misleading as the site is I got to know that this plan did not cover my tuition untill the spring semester. I thought that only the payments into the plan would come around Spring and not that it would only cover my Spring tuition (very misleading). So I need to enroll in another plan and cancel the other but I don’t know how. And my 60$ will problably be lost.

The best way (or the way I will do it is): enroll in either the 10 or 12 months plan covering the whole year and then paying half of the fall tuition with a credit card. Credit card payment is the only method since I do not have any US bank account. I will only pay this first payment with my credit card since it charges 3.1% extra as a convenience fee.

I have the same question.
Can’t we pay with an international credit card???
For example a Canadian credit card?
If I can’t, then I would be in some big trouble.

I’m from Canada, and I usually mail a bank draft or whatever in US funds. If you use expedited mailing or something it can take as little as 2-3 days if you’re in a hurry. Since I’m fairly close, sometimes I drive and drop it off.

I just enrolled in the fall semester and have paid the due date bills with my Mastercard. Luckily I have a Mastercard while the rest in my family hold a Visa card.

Ill be calling the bursary office this monday asking what the best way for international kids(who dont have US bank accounts) to pay for their tuition fee.

Banks like HSBC can do international wire transfer. If you are a premium member or private banking customer it is free. My husband does international business and gets paid via wire transfer. It is very explicit on what it’s for, who is paying and how much of local currency. Not here to promote HSBC, there are a few branches in Ithaca too. Daughter is currently in Australia, she is able to use the acct for payments without extra fees, and I am able to transfer money into her acct as needed.
