I've just noticed that NetPay on accepts US bank accounts in the payment page. So I'm a bit worried now, since I (or my parents) have no accounts in the States. What is the best way for me to pay my tuition? Would applying for a CornellCard (which is essentially a Cornell credit card) help?

come on internationals
none of you have any ideas to share?

If you don’t have an American bank, I think the only way you can pay is by credit card. They will probably charge you a 2-3% convenience fee.

i think it would be best to call the bursar’s office instead of asking CC.

Do you have any more info on how to pay with an international credit card? Are you sure NetPay accepts that?

If I were you, I would use tuition pay: https://tuitionpay.salliemae.com/tuitionpay/enroll/enrollstep1.aspx?ficeNo=002711

Tuition Pay allows you to pay your tuition in instalments. There’s only a $80 fee for using Tuition Pay.

They accept mastercard/visa, so you should def. be able to use your Canadian credit card. If you use a Canadian dollar credit card, you will be charged for the exchange rate, a currency exchange fee and a 2-3.5% convenience fee.

So, let’s say you want $10,000($5K for fall and $5K for Spring) using Tuition Pay. If you choose the 2009-2010 05/01 12 months pay plan, then you will have to pay $2579.99 today, with $833.33 monthly payments for the remaining months. If you use a Canadian dollar credit card, then you would have to pay:

$2579.99 American~ $2,800 CAD(@today’s exchange rate)
+
Exchange fee(differs by bank, usually about 3%)~$60 CAD
+
Convenience fee(2-3.5%)~$100 CAD
=$2960 CAD~$3000 CAD

–>I’m estimating that you will be charged about $3000 CAD on your Canadian credit card next month. You’d also have to pay $920 CAD/month for the remaining monthly payments.

Hope this helps…

Thanks lots zakaqel! That really helped lots!

i am still very confused about tuition pay enrollment. What about pay by wire transfer?

I plan to pay everything up front by mailing in a money order. Anyone have experience with that?

I think I’ll sign up for installments next term because the fall 09 installments actually started in May, so the first payment is like 4 / 6 months.

Money orders can be annoying, as NetPay updates once a month. So you might have to send in a money order every month. For example, the Fall 09 tuition is due Aug 11, but the insurance cost (if you use SHIP), comes out at the end of Aug, I think.
