International Official SAT 2013 November Discussion

I took it in HKEAA San Po Kong. The proctor didn’t call the first section; after that she called though. Somewhat worried she wouldn’t call the second section, I got distracted. Sigh

Oh I did it in the expo. What was your answer for improving para combining two sentences?

Practical value I think. Although something. Is it the second q of the IP questions?

Well benjamin… Practical value? Hmmm… I thought its the one with ‘monstrosities’… Dunno

Dah, psych1, I couldn’t even remember there was an answer like that…

The option went “and these conservationists will naturally not put efforts to save buildings they see as useless monstrosities”

Still couldn’t recall… If there were some contexts we might be able to conjecture the right answer.

For the last grid in, the rope question, I think 0 can be a solution along with 180.
the average of the distances between x and the 3 points (20, 70, 270) must be equal to 120.
So the distances between x=0 and the 3 points are 20,70 and 270. the average of 20, 70 and 270 is 120.

well benjamin, the answer to that is one with (-2)^2
you have argued that its +2 earlier. am i right?

Right psych1, I just didn’t remember I saw a (-2)^2 answer. I might be off due to the incident though.

Mngweb, did you see somewhere indicated " not drawn to scale "
If there was, then 0 should be correct. If it was otherwise,then there is no way for 0 to be the correct answer since that pointed was placed between 70 and 270

“extreme
passage 1 emphasizes the limitations of schoolteachers rather than focusing on their ability to make wise judgements (question was about what passage 2 feels about paragraph 2 of passage 1)
it is easier to teach adults, not children or soemething like that”

i dont remember these qns… someone help
well i can actually defend harsh but accurate.
passage 2 actually went “people who advocate censorship are seen as belligerent …
blah blah… but they are actually concerned parents blah blah… … Nevertheless Censorship is harmful”
The early part explains the harsh part and the ‘nevertheless’ part admits its afterall accurate. Its always good for test makers to confuse students with ambiguous choices. but this is just madness… the bandwagon says familiar … not much i can do

did nobody get an answer “America represents values conflicting with censorship” for the saracstic part “This is America, Land of the free”

I also doubt the answer “Not everybody reads it”
That part came only after the reference indicated in the question (Out of scope). I think answer is “They dont check sources before verifying” because the reference read “These are news papers that merely gossip. … so on”

I can’t remember.
I’m not even sure there was a figure.
I thought that x doesn’t have to be between 70 and 270.
Anyway, I messed up. is it possible to get 740 with a raw score of 51 ?

The agent question was not concerning bees but humans, I’m beginning to believe that there were discrepancies even within so called “versions” of each paper.

Mngweb: I believe the scoring is as follows

53=800
52=790
51=750
50=720
49=710
48=700

Feel bad about omitting 3 answers because it lowered my scale ceiling ,however, I didn’t want to rush an answer and get points deducted.

I wonder if the mathematics boundaries are affected by curves.

Those reading passages were easiest passages i’ve ever solved.

It looks like I got max 3 wrong on all passages combined.

Yet, I sucked at and still suck at Sentnce completions… I’m guessing around 3(passages)+8~10 wrong on sentence completions.

I really suck… Should study my words, but I never thought I’d do well on reading passages. If i studied for my words, I could have aimed for 750+ :(

It’s my first test as a junior and I feel like I could have done so much better by studying words… Now I have to take it again…(I did hella well on writing so…, not as good on math, though. maybe 3 wrong on math…)

I guess I would have ended up taking it one more time(Due to math), but I’m still mad… Could have gotten a score close to 800 on reading.

The question was concerning bees.

The question was a vocab in context question, it was asking what _____ meant,(I dont remember what the ___ word was) and the ____word was talking about bees.

All answers for that question didn’t make sense, but I ended up chosing agent. Glad i did.

So how do I know which was the experimental section? Does anyone know which the experimental section was?

^
If you have cr experimental, duck and rabbit is the experimental one. If you have WR experimental, building is the real thing.
