International O'Level Transcripts Feasibility & Importance - Aiming for Ivies/Harvard

Hello everyone! Urgent help required here!

I’m in the midst of my O’Levels, which is the equivalent to GCSEs. I wanted to enquire on the importance of the O’Level internal results, i.e. your Grade 9, 10 & 11 grades. I wanted to know how important they are in relation to your actual O’Level results. My aim is the IVY league institutions, preferably Harvard. My Grade 9 results were horrible, a few As but majority Bs. This time round I have majority A/*, with 2Bs.

Hopefully next year I’m aiming for straight A, and I will do that. I’m definitely aiming for a perfect O’Level result with straight A, but I wanted to know if universities such as the ones stated above really consider your Grade 9/10 results, or if you were to improve dramatically the following years, say, your A’Levels and final year of O’Levels with stellar grades, would they possibly take that into consideration and make a possible exemption?

I personally moved to Asia from Europe at the beginning of Grade 9, which is why I haven’t been able to perform exceptionally well in Grade 9. Is it possible that I provide, or get one of the teachers who will be giving me a recommendation to provide the reason as to why I performed under-average in Grade 9 (I’m a dual national, if that means anything, or brings about any diversity)?

Is it possible to not send your Grade 9 results along with the rest in your overall transcript? Generally, how important are they, again, in correlation to your A’Level internal results and everything else? Urgent help required guys!

Thank you in advance.

You only need to send your official O level results, i.e. the exam results you get after the tenth grade, when you sit for the actual exams. As for importance, they are somewhat important, but your A levels are much more important.

I think I’m using the word “important” too much.

Internal results don’t matter, what will matter is your final results for O’Levels. Keep in mind that the total of your O’level will be weighted similarly to your 3 (or 4??) A Levels.
However for any college ranked in the top 25 (national university or national LAC), or any college ranked in the top 50-60 if you’re international, that’s only the beginning.

Thanks. Could anyone contact/ask Harvard a question whether they are important or not/ and if it’s completely fine if you’re showing a great trend of improvement and end up with great grades in your actual O’Levels, would it make an impact? Somone help here

First, re-read post #2.
Then, take a deep breath and email Harvard from another email than your regular account, and ask if they want intermediate reports or just O’Level results.
Second, remember that ANY college (research university, national LAC…) with an acceptance rate below 40% is going to be a reach for internationals. Any college ranked in the top 50 (up to 60 if you include Honors Colleges) will be tough to get into if you need financial aid or merit aid. Look at the financial aid forum for a pinned thread called
Any college ranked 25 or less is a crapshoot regardless of nationality, scores, etc, etc.
That is, a series of A’s and A*'s is what’s expected. It’s only the beginning.

Although, one B won’t kill your chances, if it’s in a less important subject.
