**This kind of behaviour and pompous attitudes toward the rest of the world is EXACTLY why everyone cannot tolerate America. You honestly think you are so fashionable and popular? Then how come everyone likes China more than you huh? Believe it or not, the vast majority of Canada hates Americans..your condescending remarks of "America's Little Brother" doesn't help either.

Sorry, this is only to some of the posters who think America is the centre of the world
**

Canada's anti-american attitude is out of mere jealousy. We like to differentiate ourselves from americans because of our radically left winged inclinations on the political spectrum. In case anyone didn't know, we're socialist. Canada sees america as the older, and better big brother whom it can never live up to.

Aww lil' bro' is angry - cute, ehh? ;)

In reality Canada is France Jr, not America Jr...

i think.....America needs to lighten down on the arrogance....Europe needs to stop whining.....and everyone needs to blame Canada...:p...might i add...i'm really, very sleepy....i honestly have no idea what i'm talking about at this time....good night...

"Every empire comes to an end. What bush has done is start the beginning of the decline."

Yea, the first US controlled territories to go will be Germany, Italy, and Japan. I mean, after WWII we took them over b/c we are the evil empire out to rule the world right?

I agree that Canada is just jealous of the US. We always pride ourselves in our "national identity" when in fact all we are is a smaller, weaker version of the US that is unbelievable socialist in nature compared to other Western countries.

ok now that i'm in the right state of mind...

for all you "nationalists," there's a thin line between national pride and extreme ethnocentrism. Sure, the U.S. is economically and militarily more powerful than a majority of other states in the world, but we do answer to them nontheless. There's no rhyme or reason as to why you should consider yourself superior...all nations are equal in their own right...without Japan, a majority of you wouldn't have your TVs, radios, cd-players, electric razors, printers, computers, cars, etc. Without China, Taiwan, Korea, and Thailand, you wouldn't have your shoes, shirts, sporting equipment, picture frames, etc. etc. etc. You all do understand the U.S. on average imports about 30% more than it exports?...i.e. the national deficit.
And no....Bush hasn't set the foundation for the fall of the U.S. He's merely helped us recognize our faults so that we may fix them in the future.

Now...can you blame the citizens of these other countries for polling against the U.S.?...afterall...Bush refused to sign the Kyoto Agreement, he's doubled the amount of troops across the globe, he paid no heed to the UN or our close Allies in the last few years when deciding to go in to BATTLE (not war)..."why are they picking on us?"...hmmm i wonder

nationalism is defined as a healthy love of one's country. However, throughtout history, it has morphed into many different forms such as an intense desire for independence and self govern, or an outlet for aggresion and violence. In canada's case, nationalism is not a love of canada, but a hate of americans. In america, nationalism=promilitarism, and a rather arrogant pride accompanied by (i wouldn't say hegeminc, but somewhat relative to) the belief that they exist to liberate lesser or developing nations that are not democratic. Not unlike Germany's "Mittle Europa" and it's social darwinistic(wd?) belief that it is destined to rule and impose teutonic principles amongst all europeans. This analogy certainly doesn't seem too far fetched to me, except for the fact that america, unlike germany, has rightfully earned and paid for the price of superiority.

Hmmmmmm, what do you define rightfully as? As in generating billions of dollars from enslaving Africans for free labor? Or maybe by underhandedly supplying both sides in the two world wars with weapons and profiting off of duplicitous trade while the rest of the world's economies collapse?

actually, where i believe seth is going is that...America as a state fulfilled the American dream...that's why it's the American dream...the nation went from rags to riches...from a weak military, very little economic security, and a lowly reputation in the world, to the worlds only superpower

maize: I am sorry if I am somehow disturbing your pigeonhole way of life, but hopefully, you will have to eventually wake up from your absurd reveries and face reality.

Despite what you may think, not everyone is out to get you

you read me correctly narahfasfa. Germany was crushed during world war I.(let's not talk about world war II) On the other hand, America resisted british oppression and went from being 13 or was it 12(forgive my canadian ignorance) colonies under georgeIII to a full fledged and independently thriving nation. In addition, it was the first to exercise a fully "democartic" government other than britain, whose gov't was more of a constitutional or limited monarchy. It also inspired the French revolution.

Did I mention slavery any where in my post? I don't believe so. And I do believe britain remained neutral until it felt its economy was in danger.

"Yea, the first US controlled territories to go will be Germany, Italy, and Japan. I mean, after WWII we took them over b/c we are the evil empire out to rule the world right?"

when did i imply or state that an empire is a bad thing? i was referring to the american hegemony in current intl.
