International SAT December 1st 2012 Discussion for Critical Reading

Please dont be too specific on this forum; it was set up to be a discussion, in which we only relate our experiences, not the exact answers.

I thought the passages were pretty alright, there was one sentence completion that fooled me though. The math was strangely easy.

damaan, everything is in old threads already… we aren’t writing anything new.

comics mini double passage answers:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/6808906-post474.html

On the mini passage about the junk food I chose “food industry needs to make food cheaply and efficiently” or something like that and that the food was “convenient”.
People from past years say that the food was “absurd”. What was the exact question? Maybe I didn’t sense the sarcasm in author’s tone?

The Newton-Objective-20 Questions-Physical Realm passage was ridiculous. I mean, it took like 10 mins just to translate the questions into English before my examiner shouted: “5 MINUTES LEFT,” as if there was a nuclear holocaust.

The elephant one was alright though.

how do guys know that the newton/shakespear passage was experimental?

In SAT math, the last question of the 20 min section…
16. How many even numbers are between 100 and 110 inclusive? (Is that the Q? i vaguely remember…)
Ans: (110-100)/2 +1 = 6 …The answer is 6.

I didn’t have the passage about Newton and Shakespeare. My experimental was Math.

And guys there was a graph in Math…The options were a. Mississipi b. Minnesota c.Oklahoma d,e…(I don’t remember) …THE ANSWER IS C.Oklahoma.

@AimingAt750>> My math was experimental too. Do you remember the math last question of the experimental section(the graph)…And The PROBABILITY question of experimental section( answers)?? Btw…do they count marks from experimental section too?

scourge566, I don’t even know which one was experimental. Experimental section does not count towards the score.

On CR 20 min section the first sentence completion of was b. trust , another sentence completion about “playing guitar” was >“virtuosic”.

Sorry to bother with a math question… but do you guys remember the sum of the slope that includes the point under y=x graph? I put 3 as a possibility…

The addition of slopes was supposed to be between 1 and 2. I wrote 1.5

I think I’ll get 700 on reading section.I think my essay (is there anything else left to discover) was pretty good I used 2 solid scientific examples and quotes but I missed six questions in writing section overall (lack of time) and maths was terrible I think the math section was very tricky as I wasted a lot of time on medium questions. :(

Idk why people are overhyping the CR section. I thought it was rather easy compared to the official practice tests. I even had 4-5 minutes remaining in each CR section. I actually enjoyed every single passage; especially the passage with the elephants, it was really enjoyable to read! Maybe I’m over enthusiastic, but the story was interesting!

Anyway, I think that the improving sentences part of the writing section had some really hard questions. Find errors part was pretty much easy.

But as usual I had like 3-4 minutes before the writing section ended. I think I’ll get at least 31/35 from the writing section.

The maths section had WAY too many tricky questions. I think the curve will be lenient.

Let’s throw up a hail mary.

Oh well.

Yeah I also wrote 1.5  The slope must be between 2 and 1 …1.1,1.2,1.3,1.4 …till 1.9 any grid in answer is correct.

The CR section with newton was experimental. i didn’t have it.

Damn, I wrote 2. Hope it counts. To be honest I had absolutely no idea what the question was about… as repetitive as I may sound, I just threw up a hail mary and hoped that it was right lol

aryuautku@ Yeah, I agree with you…The CR potion mainly the long passages, BOOK CASE passage and ELEPHANT passage were interesting, I was with the flow of the passage dreaming about just the passage, smiling, i liked the passages!! (I didnt have the experimental CR)

Sorry to say but 2 is the slope of the existing line itself, not the slope of M line inside the shaded region. 2 is incorrect…
