I'm an exiled/deported Malaysian. Never took a formal Malay class in my life except for two "terms" in Form 1 where nobody did anything including me. (Got a D for that class)

Culturally, I'm not Malaysian, I supposed. Not linguistically...

OH!! I want to learn Arabic!!! I'm lookin' at uni/colleges that offer classes in Arabic. I love Mt. Holyoke!! dances And possibly Middlebury for that reason, too. :P

btw, need I remind you today's saturday, meanig week-end, meaning we have a lot of work to do here on CC!
now remember: we have to gather our efforts cause page 20 is waiting for us ;)

laughing* Thanks, Lakshmi. Izzy...the thread-filler...too bad I can't sew at all!! (Yes, lame pun..)

Banedon, Tasslehoff, correct if I'm wrong with tgis explanation considering I'm not THAT Malaysian n tend to misconstrue things.

Malaysia has three main races - Indians, Chinese and Malays. "Bumiputra/Bumiputera" is the Malay word for like..."Malay" Literally it means "People of the Earth". So I'm Malay Malaysian whereas I think banedon is Chinese Malaysian and possibly Tasslehoff, too.

the thread-filler.... no offense but it sounds rather creepy to me :p.(don't know why, though, well maybe because of the prononciation). I'm also curios about my sat scores cause last night I dreamed of having 640 for math2, 500 and something for French and 410 for Physics!!!! omg!!! it was such an awful dream!!!! as in...I don't expect 3*800 but I do expect good results!!!

in layman's term, you are correct. except that putra=prince and not people. bumiputra is another way of describing the "original settlers of Malaysia" which is different from "indigenous people".
