International Senior with not so knowledgeable guidance counselor! CHANCE ME PLEASE

African American female with dual citizenship to the US and Australia (born and live in Australia).

Attend tiny steiner (waldorf) school.
IB diploma program, haven't got predicted scores yet but I would say
French Ab Initio-7
Environmental Systems SL-6/7
Chemistry HL-6
History HL-6
English Lit HL-6/7
Maths SL-5/6

Havent' taken SAT but think I can manage a 2100.
Class rank-there are only 11 people in my garde(all taking the diploma so all very smart, I would say I'm 2nd)

My schools didn't offer any extra curricular activities except for my music (I take singing lessons and have been in senior choir) but I've founded the french club (I'm president) the UNICEF UNited Club (also president), which has raised almost 3,000 already (through one initiative) and helped to found the school council. Outside of school I'm a dancer (National CHampion with my pom squad), did gymnastics for many years, coached gymnastics, have done some volunteer work through school and my Church Youth Group. I am also part of Young UN Women Australia and have represented my school at a couple of leadership conferences. I've also been involved in theatre, lead roles in productions and choreographed the senior school musical. I also love creative writing and I went on French Exchange to Paris for 3 months.

Major: international relations
would also like to continue pursuing dance (minor or co-curricular) in college.

thinking of

Georgetown
American
George Washington
Sarah Lawrence
Columbia
Brown
Barnard
Occidental College
Fordham
Eugene Lang
Johns Hopkins
Santa Clara University
Pomona

Suggestions for safeties would be great too!

36-39 is abnout 3.6-3.8 UW.

Georgetown: Reach
American: Low match
JHU: Reach
Barnard: Reach
Pomona: Reach
Columbia: Reach (I wonder how will your race counter a 36-39 on the IB)
Brown: Reach
Occidental: High match
Fordham: Safety
Eugene Lang: Safety
Santa Clara: Low match
GWU: Match

Thanks so much! the IB also has 3 marks for TOK and extended essay (I think I can manage a 3/3 there) so my range for the IB is actually more like 39-42.

what would the equivalent GPA be for that and does that change my chances or not really? Also what about Sarah Lawrence? I’m very interested in that school and I’m a really strong writer (which I know they love)

I agree with Catria’s predictions. Your scores and stats are superb. Especially your unique background, I would say you would have a bit higher of a chance since schools like diversity and culture

bump!!!

Sarah Lawrence: Low match

Georgetown, Hopkins, Columbia, Brown: Reach
I am not so sure about the liberal arts schools but from what I do know schools like Barnard and Pomona are a reach. The rest are matches with the obvious safeties being Fordham and Eugene Lang
