I'm an international student, hoping to get into university with full scholarship and since almost all of the colleges consider applications, looking at how much could the student pay, I have a question. What test results/GPA/activities etc are usual for students like me? (I know that there are many factors officers are looking at and there is no standard, everybody has his own weakness and good qualities, but still I wanna know.) What do colleges expect to see in an international applicant to accept him and aware full scholarship?

Well, to get full aid even if you’re a domestic applicant, is very difficult. By difficult I mean the applicant has to be amazing. For internationals, its exponentially more difficult.
HYPM are need blind. So if you get in you get full aid.
Have near perfect GPA/IB/A levels scores.
SAT scores >2200 will give you a good chance but won’t guarantee anything.
SAT II scores over 750s are very good
Your ECs have to set you apart from every other international out there. Like a national sports team membership, winning Olympiads etc etc etc.
You essay is extremely important.

Have everything in order and apply ED to a school.

Full rides for international students are very rare, and there are a lot of internationals competing for them.

Here is one to take a look at:

[International Students | Admissions - Berea College](http://www.berea.edu/admissions/international/default.asp)

BTW, yes HYPM are need blind. But that doesn’t mean you get a full ride. The school might decide your “need” is quite high. That is the school’s decision, not yours.

Note that need blind does not mean you will get full aid, it means they won’t look at your financials when deciding to admit you. HYPM don’t give merit scholarships, but they will pay for anything THEY feel your parents cannot afford. Often, what they feel your parents can’t afford and what your parents feel they cannot afford don’t match.

Yes well, generally internationals who want full rides, need full rides. So they get them at HYPM.

Thank you all! I’m already considering Berea as one of the colleges I’m gonna apply to.
There won’t be any problems with “need” for sure.
What is HYPM? Google doesn’t show anything and I could only guess that it’s Ivy League.

HYPM is shorthand that’s unique to this board (as far as I know). H = Harvard; Y = Yale; P = Princeton; M = MIT. Sometimes it’s HYPMS or HYPSM; in that case, S = Stanford. Sometimes people talk about just HYP.

Thank you!

Is there anybody who study at university as an international? Share, please, your experience of getting in, it’d be very helpful for me.

bumppppppp
anyone international here?

I’m an international applying next year. Hoping for a FA too! :)

I applied this year and got some good financial aid.

Another option, depending on how much your family will pay, is applying to schools that will give MERIT scholarships to internationals. For example: [Scholarships for Incoming Freshmen](http://www.honorscollege.msu.edu/scholarships/incoming_freshmen.html)

If you’re good enough to get into MSU’s honors college, they’ll equalize your tuition to that of a Michigan resident and you can get other small scholarships on top of that.
