International Student Certificate of Finances

So as an international student, I’m applying to schools in the U.S. However, due to some complications, I require financial aid and my family can only pay so much each year. So when filling out the International Student Certificate of Finances that the college have us fill, is it fine that I put in my insufficient amount? I mean, of course if I get accepted for aid, then it’ll work out, but for this document that is to be paired and submitted along with the application, will writing down an insufficient amount acceptable, or will it outright disqualify me for an I-20?

Ex: The school’s total fee is 60,000 but I can only 30,000 dollars into the International Student Certificate of Finances because that’s all I have. The school can provide aid, but that’s beside the point. I have an insufficient total on my declaration of finances nevertheless. Will this reject me my I-20 outright? Or will the school provide aid along with an accepted I-20?

If you are applying for financial aid or scholarships from the college, you can add a line item “expected financial aid / scholarship” to the Certification of Finances to get to the total amount of money you need to document. Include in a footnote that you can only attend if offered said amount of aid.
