International student ivy league??

Hey!! I am a Mexican international student in America and I wanted to know if there were also any students like me on cc, or that you know of... Born in a Latin Country but came here at a very young age. Any opinions or thoughts are appreciated.

My parents annual income is around $35,000 kinda very low-income...

What are my chances for ivy league schools?? Does anyone know if international students in America get different treatment in top college admit process?? I know my stats are on the low side for most ivy league and top schools, but my scores are in the 99+ percentiles for Mexicans/Mexican Americans... So I am essentially a Mexican American (raised here), but I wasn't born here. How will colleges interpret my app??

I think you would have a great chance at any school you apply to, including ivy league schools. You’re grades are great, as are your ECs and test scores. Being a Mexican-American from a low-income household will help too. I think you could get into any college, but the process is so random that you never know.

What is your immigration status? If you have a green card, you will be considered a domestic applicant, rather than an international, and you will be eligible for federally determied (FAFSA) financial aid.

You have good grades and test scores. Go to the Financial Aid Forum and read up on Questbridge, and check out the threads on Guaranteed Merit-based scholarships.

Good luck!

Your story is interesting regardless of your immigration status. I’d advise you to go for it. Dependent on your status, you might also consider Questbridge.

Thank you guys! I hope I get in, I’d be happy with any of the ivy league schools accepting me—as I am sure anyone would too…
