Wow what a tough day
Yes, odds are that your financial need explains the wait-lists.
Rejected at Bates.
Waitlisted at Holy Cross.
I would make no such assumption. An international applicant is always at a disadvantage, as many users have already told you. I hope things work out, but there is no point now thinking about what you could have done differently, particularly if you could have done nothing differently.
@gigichuck im in the same situation as u. u DID get into a college that gave u a full ride yeah? i remember u posting smthn about that
@Barekk I was a finalist for the Marquis scholarship/fellowship at Lafayette. I haven’t heard back about my admissions decision.
Oh i see. Did u accept all ur waitlist offers? Because some of the decisions will be after may1st
Not yet. But I will. @Barekk
Rejected at Colgate.
How many are left?
I hope you will hear good news soon!
Really really tough. Hang in there. You only need ONE. Fingers crossed. At worst… there’s still next year.
You only need ONE guys no one can say this enough. I got L’s from 6 colleges before my first two acceptances in a row, and 5 more L’s afterwards
So apparently there are 2 types of URichmond rejection letters. One is the plain and simple “We’re sorry/regret to inform you…”
The second is more specific, and says to inform them if the student can raise funds up to $70k.
I got the latter lol. At least I got closure.
@MYOS1634 Apparently one student per country is accepted to Berea each year. They start accepting apps in July for internationals. Could that be a possibility for OP.
@gigichuck i got similar ones from different colleges
@gearmom i heard about Berea, is it really exactly one student from each country , like if somehow youre the only one applying from a certain country you might have a good chance?
BTW I think OP wants to pursue engineering , dont think Berea offers it
thats as far as i remember
I feel you, got a similar letter from Beloit; if I want to attend, I need to raise 20-25K$(the rest, they are covering). But it is closure for me. A few more days and I hope we will get somewhere!
@Barekk Sure I’d prefer engineering, but most liberal arts colleges don’t offer engineering so I would be severely restricting myself by applying to only engineering schools. Computer Science is my alternate major. My problem with Berea was the whole mailing issue. Maybe if nothing works out this year I’ll pursue it. Still hoping though…
@Barekk That is what it says https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Berea_College One per country. Read the part under scholarships and work. The exception is distressed areas. I would apply in July if you were international. I’d be first.
Waitlisted at Haverford (explicitly because of financial aid) and rejected at Mount Holyoke.
