I am a future Undergraduate student at a University in the United States. I am currently in the process of application for a green card, but I am wondering when I get my green card in a few months will i qualify for in-state tuition or do I still have to pay out of state tuition because I didn’t go to high school or have lived in the US for more than a required number of months?
Do you live in a state? Each uni has its own rules. You need to research for yourself. It sounds very unlikely however – all have minimum residency requirements.
You will be unlikely to have in-state residence, at least at first.
Each state has different rules. I just posted a link to all the state rules for someone a couple of days ago.
Are you already living in the US, and has your family been living here and paying taxes here for a while? If so, then it is likely that you have established in-state status where your parents reside.
If you are living outside the US, and your parents are not living and working and paying taxes here, then it is unlikely that you will be able to easily establish in-state status on your own. However, each state sets its own policies about this, so check the states you are interested in, and look through OspreyCV22’s old posts for the link mentioned above.
