International Studies - IUB

Anyone here taking or have taken international studies at IUB or Japanese/ASL?

was wondering what to expect and any reviews you had.

bump

I’m an International Studies BA at IU and the School of Global and International Studies is what made me choose IU over places like Dartmouth and Yale. The professors are absolutely incredible experts in their fields, and are very engaging and approachable both inside and outside of class. If you can, I would recommend you take a class with Professors Gilligan, Rana, or Bosco. Most classes are very autonomous, with (usually powerpoint) lectures being the bulk of the class with a shorter discussion period. Most classes will only consist of 5 grades - usually a midterm, two essays, attendance, and a final.

IU has the biggest and one of the best foreign language department in the world, offering over 70 languages (another reason I chose IU). I personally have taken Spanish and Russian, but I know people who have taken Japanese and ASL. It will depend on what level you test into, but even elementary level foreign language classes at IU are quite immersive with very little English spoken during class.

Does anyone know how the poli sci classes are as well (specifically international relations classes)?
