International Supplement is not sent. Will it hurt my chances?

Hey guys I need your opinion!

I have already sent my application materials (ISFAA, School report, transcripts, recs) via mail. I did not pay too much attention to the IS because it asks for Leaving exams, which I haven't had yet(my secondary school exams do not have any value in my country, therefore there is no official doc for them). Schools that I apply to do not have an IS as a requirement on their website, but Common App shows that some of them need it. i won't have a chance to send it before the deadline.

any thoughts appreciated.

arent the deadlines 1st of jan the latest? If so, you can still send it.

The bad news: If your application is flagged as incomplete, it may not get read at all.

The good news: Most deadlines are not strict, in the sense that supporting documents may arrive slightly after the deadline without jeopardizing your application.

What if my GC completed the school report online but did not complete the International Supplement?

Thanks for advices!! StarsAligned, maybe you could just ask him again to fill it out?

and one more question, do I need to attach a transcript(with my grades for the first semester of my Senior year) to a Mid- Year report?

This may sound totally ridiculus at such late notice: but where does it say whether a school needs an international supplement? some of my schools have a section in their supplement for international students, but i’ve never come across a whole extra form to fill out. this is kind of freaking me out ^^

The International Supplement to the Secondary School Report is an extra form that your counselor should complete in addition to the regular school report.

I thought the international supplement was for schools with non-US based curriculums? Canada’s system is essentially the same as the U.S, no? My counselor looked at it and said she had filled out similar info in the school report.

Plus, I got deferred from Yale and haven’t received word on any missing info… so I’m assuming it’s not needed for Canadian schools.

You are right that it is meant for non-US style educational systems. But the supplement really doesn’t add any information, US-style school or not. It asks about the primary language of instruction at the high school, the grading scale and whether there’s a standardized school leaving exam. That’s it. Colleges can certainly make their admission decision without that form, but if an applicant is unlucky, the application might be considered incomplete without.

Ah, well don’t the colleges contact us if there is something missing from the application?

Hmm my counselor filled out the form, but left the grading scale section blank. I’m presuming that if my statewide exam body grades on the A to E scale, this should be fine. Am I mistaken?

Sorry for the bump, but if I am applying as an International Student but have attended a US high school all four years, my counselor wouldn’t need to fill this out, right? I mean it wouldn’t help them at all…
