1.) Can any internationals requiring FA who've been accepted post their stats here? How many were admitted? What is the projected admit rate for them (not an exact number, but atleast if it's closer to 1% or 5% or 10%?).

2.) If I'm an international requiring FA and I've been rejected, would it mean I don't have a shot at all (or atleast look very unlikely) for the Ivies/top LACs? Considering they are extremely selective about their internationals with aid?

I guess no international students applying FA was accepted. Seems impossible.
you can say,
" Can any internationals requiring FA who’ve been Waitlisted post their stats here?"

A page on their admissions website said they only accept a very, very small number of international FA applicants (I don’t think it went into specifics). I’m one of those and I just got my rejection e-mail.

Yeah, I’ve never heard of international students seeking aid accepted!
I’m an international, and got waitlisted without any FA requirement.
Wonder what happened to those with FA.

hey guys, i’m an international FA applicant and just got my acceptance letter! i’m so happy! does anyone know where i can find my financial aid package? it’s not on my homepage :S

@dawncoming I’m still waiting on the Ivies, if I get into Columbia and/or Harvard it will be a pretty tough decision to make! About those stats, you can check out my profile at Z1nch (1xi), it has pretty much all the info you need, I think: www.z1nch.com/sebastrauss

yep I’m international seeking FA too, and was accepted as well!
somehow I couldn’t find my financial aid letter yet, admission office says they will mail it to me, but probably that will take a helluva long time…

I’m an international. And I was rejected.
I am sad.
But I always loved Math and Science better than U of C. I’m gonna go somewhere else and make hay :)

@ meghnasridhar: Answering to your 2nd question. I believe that international students asking for finaid have more chance at need-blind colleges than at places like U Chicago. E.g. Yale, Harvard, Dartmouth (maybe Princeton, im not sure),Georgetown (not an ivy), Amherst COllege, and Williams College are need blind to all applicants; so they will not consider the fact that you are applying for financial aid in the selection process. That is a great advantage, I think. And being rejected from a need-aware school (be it U Chicago, or even Columbia) does not mean that you have no shot at other, simliarly competitive schools. I have no clue about the exact numbers, but I’d say to compare, that while Chicago accepts only 1% of internationals asking for FA, Yale accepts 5-7% (simply because its need blind)…You should look at the figures: how many internationals receive aid at different colleges. Its the best indicator of the school’s willingness to pay for internationals, and I made my choices in accordance with these numbers.

@ksanyee Thank you so much for that information! It’s a great relief to hear I still have a chance at top schools, because I desperately want to attend a top American university. Fingers crossed for the rest of my decisions, then!
