Internationals who got fin aid!

Hello,

Just out of mere curiosity, are there any international students (not Canadians or Mexicans) who succeeded at getting financial aid as undergraduates? If so, where? Could you give us an idea of your academic and personal profile?

I am German and on need-based fin aid (exceeding tuition) at Bryn Mawr College. I was also offered fin aid from Mount Holyoke. You can have a look at my stats profile if you want to.

How come not Canadians or Mexicans ? Do they have an advantage or something ?

I am a senior at HS, but as of now I was offered a full ride at the University of New Orleans (Chancellor Scholarship). The amount given totals $70,000 for the four years I believe.

I had a 3.5 and 1330 SAT (CR and Math)

I applied to other schools, but I'll find out what/if they gave me aid in April.

Canadians and less frequently Mexicans too are often treated like Americans in terms of financial aid rather than international students (so admission may be need-blind for Canadians but not for other internationals).

I am not sure why that is the case. It might be possible that the Canadian government supports Canadian students who study in the States... Does anybody have any verifiable information on the topic?

its because we kicked american's ass in the war of 1812, to this day they are still paying back the restitution stated in the treaty of ghent

lol.. nice1..

This might be idiotic, but I always thought it had something to do with NAFTA.

You know i agree with you. It would be a great help if some international students who got aid could list their stats.and no canadians.or mexicans.nothing personal.

A levels -4A 1C
SAT1- below 1900
EC- very bad
reco- shd have been awesome

Full Aid including personal expenses!!!

Which college are you in san123?

it is a gr8 thread.

It would do us a lot good if Int. students. who have received aid, post their stats. We would know where we stand....

@bocca
let that be concealed for now...

LOADS of ppl around me get FA to study in the US...
(i'm in China, by the way)

it's probably because lots of ppl can't afford to go if they didn't have FA....so it seemed like that most ppl who went had at least some FA...

it doesn't seem that hard as it used to seem to me anymore... (lol a bit tongue-twisting)...but in reality the competition is getting harder~

hey!
I got a full scholarship last year.
I understand your concerns you guys, but really, now that the applications are in... there's not much you can do other than relax and maybe find some internships for the summer.
