Internet Explorer v. Netscape v. Firefox

I think Firefox is winning the race. IE is a piece of poop in that it gets slammed with viruses and popups and all that garbage. Netscape is still garbage, even though it is similar to Firefox. Overall, I'm glad for Firefox... loading time for websites is fast. In a sidenote, all the people that create and intentionally distribute viruses and spyware should burn in hell.

HTH

Don't you guys realize that Firefox doesn't have its vulnerabilities attacked constantly because it doesn't have enough market share yet - if everyone starts to use it, you'd better believe people will start finding ways to do crap to it. This is why there aren't many viruses writen for macs (contrary to popular belief, there are some) - because no one uses them - at least not enough to make it fun to write viruses and spyware for them.
I'm sticking to IE, thank you. I have no problems with viruses and such.

Good point. But Firefox is still the best--right now.

I'm loving Firefox - the amount of spyware I get is practically zero. Which makes it far superior to Explorer! But there are a few sites that I have to access with Explorer, though.

The customizability of Firefox (via themes, extensions, etc.) lends itself to be better than IE (of course, ignoring the fact that it renders HTML and other such code correctly whilst IE does not). Opera, though, gives Firefox a run for its money.

I should add that AOL is probably the worst of all browsers. I haven't been a member for a while but that browser can't do javascript if its life depended on it. And the graphics sucked too. Long live Mozilla.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I believe AOL integrates IE into its own program, so the "AOL Browser" is just Internet Explorer.

And, yes, Firefox/Mozilla all the way. Look for the Firefox optimizer or an optimized build to get the most out of it (yes, it does get even faster, by a very noticeable amount).

Does it hurt the quality of the site/graphics?

wow momma, you weren't kidding. This is great! Thanks uber!

I'm assuming ubercollegman was referring to the Moox versions... no?

Firefox rocks my world.

And I thought I was the only person using Firefox. But yah, Firefox^2!

I was a skeptic at first, but Firefox is nice.

Icarus, IE security just plain sucks. Firefox, being opensource, cannot possibly have any glaring security flaws for any length of time, unlike with IE. Don't you ever get tired of applying all those stupid fixes?

Firefox! Duh! =)

you bring up a good point atrix - but no, i dont' really get tired of it haha.
I dont think Firefox is necessarily a bad browser, but it is by no means as godly as people make it out to be, and I still like IE better.
And I like my ActiveX and Browser Helper Objects, which Firefox has no idea what to do with. Granted, not using these things does plug a few security holes, but still - they are too useful not to support.

Yeah, welshie, I use a moox build. I loves it.

To convince more people to get firefox, I would like to point out that

if you use gmail, there's a fabulous gmail notifier extension. i like it more than the google one, dunno if you might. (less ram, therefore ;))

there's an extension called foxytunes which lets you control your media player from an unobstrusive lil bar

you can skin your fox

and nobody mentioned tabbed browsing. be a power surfer. use firefox.

And to Icarus, I say a technology which is badly implemented deserves to be abandoned (ActiveX) :)
