im not trying to ask a dumb question, like how many hours you need, but curious as to the nature of volunteering med schools want to see

for instance, if i went to my local hopsital, interned doing paperwork and really nothing intense ( i mean, the local hospitals dont really give students the chance to do anything significant) will that be valued much less than being an EMT?

Which one would you rather do? Which one do you have time for? Stop worrying about the way things look.......worry about what'll make you happy.

thats a little idealistic, you have to consider things that are necessary for admissions, or else i would party every day of the year, because that would make me happy

SC23,

If I'm reading AD's point correctly he/she is simply pointing out that if you hate doing a job, it's less likely to result in strong interviews/essays, and therefore will be much less helpful.

If partying every day of the year actually would make you happy, then I'd urge you to simply go do that.

I doubt partying every day would make you happy because it'd turn into a mess of monotony. The only reason people like to party is because it's break from the normal.

In addition, StoneCold, you took my words to the extreme. I meant what bluedevilmike said, and added to that I meant something along the lines of...."if you have to ask you'll never know"

If you really need to know how many hours required to do something....are you truly enjoying your work? Are you truly thinking "YAY, this is definitely what I like to do....I'm having so much fun"......Don't go into medicine for the "financial gains"...go into medicine because your heart screams it. I promise, you'll be sorely disappointed if you go into medicine for fiscal means.

Look at your time commitments....look at where you want to go in life. Do you want children? Do you want to be married? What sort of hours do you want to work? It all depends on your future goals. You can't expect the easy road in medicine.

It's your choice whether o rnot to pay attention to mike and I, but I woudln't waste my time typing all this out if I didn't truly mean it.

Lol, and I'm a girl not a guy. Easy mistake though hahaha...:]

huh i didnt say anyhting about hours required.. i was asking the nature of volunteer work and if one is considered useless and i should try to pursue another

"like how many hours you need"

right, i was saying that "im not trying to ask a dumb question, like how many hours you need"

meaning that , asking how many hours you need, would have been a dumb question... beacuse i remember someone did that from an earlier thread

Yeah, but then you basically repeated in other terms as you went continued. Why are we arguing? lol...It doesn't matter. Do what you want.
