Internship at a law firm

Okay, I am a junior in high school and aspire to become a lawyer or do something with law in the future. I thought an internship at a law firm would be perfect. I was just wondering, does anyone know what one does when they intern at a law firm? Like what would I be doing there? I am trying to find out now before I start asking firms and people so I can determine if I can handle it or whatever. Anyone have any experience?

Thanks!

you wont find one unless you know people

oh really? that stinks

please note.. i am not looking for a paid internship

you would most likely file papers and get people coffee and, as bearcats said, this glorious opportunity isn't given to high schoolers unless they know someone

really? why wouldn't they want to have someone to do those things for them? i dont get it

At your level, all you'll do would be the kind of tasks that nobody else would be willing to do, like entering insignificant data, photocopying, or running errands. At this point it won't be anything remotely meaningful. Your best bet would be to volunteer at a non-profit.

Dude, I'm having trouble getting one (unpaid also) as a sophomore in college. Your chances are a crapshoot at best.

you will be getting coffee for the people getting coffee for the lawyers.

Law firm internships are really tricky this year, connections or no connections, sophomore in college or high schooler, trust me…

I have a friend who interned at a vault “top-15” biglaw firm the summer before senior year (of high school). He spent part of his day doing basic tasks, copying, etc., and the rest on collegehumor.com or aim cause they had nothing for him to do

I’m seriously about ready to just start coldcalling. Looking for an internship this year is like, euh, talking to a brick wall.
