Internship Numerical Tests--US vs. International Firms

Hi all,

I have a particularly interesting question that needs to be elucidated by more knowledgeable college students out there.

Recently, I have applied to 2 very big name European firms (the internships are based in the US, though). Both firms required math tests. I have interned at American firms, albeit a bit smaller than the 2 Euro firms I applied to, and none of the American firms required testing as part of their internship screening process.

So the question is: do all big name companies require you to take a test for their internship/recent graduate opportunities? Or is this only a thing that European firms do?

Thanks for your help!

I’m not sure but every American firm I’ve applied to, none of them made me take any tests. The one European based firm I applied to (internship in US tho) made me take a math test, a reasoning test, a case study and a group exercise. It was probably the toughest interview I’ve ever had but I got the internship!

I’m sure there must be some American companies that do it but I think it may be more common among European companies. I know the company I interviewed for said they make it very tough so they can hire the same interns for full-time.
