During my visit at Rose, the admissions said a lot about internship
and co-op opportunities. How are they at Rose? They said something
about the average salary being around $18 all the way to $30 an hour.
What is the reality behind this? Also, our tour guide said something about
the summer being another quarter, but for internships. What does this
mean? Would I have be staying on campus during the summer or is it
an internship close to home?

Thanks to anyone who can clear this up for me.

Excellent questions Salve. About 95% of students have at least one internship or c0-op, but the majority are internships during the summer. Most students find internships through the on-campus career fairs and online job postings from companies on the career services website. There are opportunities all over the country, but there are generally a lot more in the Midwest, especially Indiana. A lot of students also do REUs (Research Experience for Undergraduates) which is like an internship, but doing research at a college, university, or government lab. Rose does have a few of these on campus, but there are tons of REUs available other places as well. If you’d like to stay on campus you can probably find something here, but if you’d like to stay at home or live somewhere else you can do that as well.

Thanks Nick123! So I could probably just stay at home in Illinois and there will probably be an internship available somewhere around here? That would probably be the most appealing option. The REU sounds like a good idea too. Do you think that the internships will provide a pretty decent amount of money to actually pay for part of the tuition for the school in the end? The support Rose gives when it comes to internships seems very plentiful also.
