most of PA's gov schools were canceled because of budget cuts, but the program for global entrepreneurship and a few others were privatized. i found out the other day that i got into the program and the college will pay for approx. 4000 of the tuition and the students have to pay the rest- $2900. i got the packet in the mail and everything looks like the exact same as the actual governor's school program so that's good.

i also found out that i could potentially receive an internship at Gap international, a management consulting/ international business consulting company... i sent them my resume and they were really impressed.

so the issue now is gov school, what i've always wanted to do, or the internship?

i can't decide because i've always wanted to go to gov school, but now that's tuition based i don't know... should i go for the internship? the thing with the internship is that i'm not sure what i would be doing all summer, they still haven't 100% accepted me and i'm not sure if it's a paid internship or not.

If I were you I would go with the internship if you know you can get it, whether its paid or not.
I got waitlisted for Global Entrepreneurship and I am opting to get an internship instead. The GE program is less prestigious now that it is not an actual governor’s school. Also, with an internship, I can find out if I actually want to be in this field for the rest of my life by getting actual work experience. If it turns out that I do want to stay in the field, the person who I am interning for could write me a great recommendation which Im sure would help me somewhere down the line for colleges.

hmmm thanks guys for the advice…
the problem with the internship is that i think either the pres/vp is one of my mom’s patients… and so i told her to send my resume to anyone she knew after i heard about gov school being canceled. apparently the company loved and was very impressed with my resume. they usually only accept college students, but they are willing to make an exception for me. they haven’t gotten back to us about what i would actually be doing, i’m just afraid if i drop out of the opportunity of gov school now, i’ll end up with some like boring job as a secretary over the summer which would be a waste of my time.
