So, I live in Pa. as you may know, Governor Rendell decided that Governor's school was to expensive and it is no longer free. It is $2,000 to attend. I am considering attendance. Though my parents could send me, I worry about spending so much money. More money than i have ever seen in my life! Is it worth it to try to get into Governor's school and spend the money or should I look elsewhere. How prestigious do you guys think governor's School is?
What is money worth vs. application worth?
thanxs

$2000, geez…in NC it’s $500 with scholarships to those who need it. However, other six week summer programs run around $7000-8000, so it’s still a bargain. If they have a program that interests you and you parents are willing to foot it (and you get accepted!), I would recommend it. My friends who attended NC governor’s school absolutely loved it.

try the SAMS program. its free, and you should bring some money, you know for some food and gifts. plus its in PA. i went this summer for 6 weeks. SAMS is definetly worth it.

huh, that sounds interesting- how selective is it?

about 60 kids are accepted out of 500-800. this summer it was a small group, like 60 but i think they are going to accept more people, maybe around 80.

Wow! thanks, I googled it and it seems pretty awesome.
I am 4ever indebted to you.
and indebted even more if I get in :)

Though this many people get picked, It isn’t considered very honorable if you get selected at my school. I think it is because very smart people at my school don’t get picked and MANY students get picked.

hmm, i guess i better consider that…

hahhahaha no problem =]
just make sure you have great essays and you should be fine!

grin. 10 char.
