I'm a mechanical engineering major and just finished my 2nd year at Lehigh. I'm currently interning at Air Products and Chemicals. Anyone have any good companies where I can intern at next summer?

I’m a MechE, but sorry not very familiar with current internships. But I’ll pose a question here that may help you (and me to advise my EE son).

What is the protocol for interns getting references at the end of the summer? Are they still written? Done via LinkedIn in August? Or … do interns just request permission to use name in a reference list?

There’s thousands of options for you to chose from. Find out what YOU want to do and then search for companies that fit what you want. Glassdoor.com is a cool website where you can learn about a company through reviews and salary reports. Reviews online tend to be negative everywhere, so go in with those expectations.

I just asked my mentor for a recommendation when it was needed. He was more than happy to do that. Typically companies are really excited that you even have experience and I have never been asked for references.
