Hi I'm a junior in high school and I'm starting to look at colleges. I'm becoming increasingly interested in things like international relations, political science, and diplomacy. Anyways, not quite sure what I'd like to do when I'm older but I'm thinking working as an ambassador or state department worker would be ideal. I realize this is competitive and hard to attain, so I figure my best shot at reaching this goal would be to get an internship of some sorts with the state department. Which schools are know to be particularly good for this kind of thing? One that has a good education and great opportunities for internships. I have a 4.3 Weighted GPA and a 30 ACT. Which schools that specialize in what I described do I have a shot of getting into?

DC schools are going to give you some great access and opportunities along these lines. Look at GWU’s Elliott School of Intl Affairs, look at Georgetown, American, Catholic, Univ Maryland, Geo Mason. Internships are the norm at schools like GWU, American and Georgetown which are just steps from Capitol Hill. I expect they are for the others as well but I have first hand knowledge of students experiences at those three.

GWU and Georgetown offer some summer college courses for HS students. You might consider looking at those.
