Internships

I have a question on the general usefulness of my internships with regard to eventually getting an IB internship/job. This semester I've been working with a couple of financial advisors at Merrill Lynch's Wealth Management department (ie: cold-calling). Anyway, this set me up to work with a more "prestigious" I guess you could say (he handles more money) Financial Advisor at Wells Fargo next semester, and this actually pays and will give me more responsibility.

I know they're not really IB related, but I figured it's something at two big firms and it definitely couldn't hurt. Anyway, I'm just wondering if these will be helpful and/or look good on a resume for getting me IB internships. I'm a sophomore at NYU, by the way.

Anybody with any experience or knowledge on the subject?

As a soph at NYU, these internships will put you in pretty good shape for IB next year as a junior and then, ultimately for FT. You will definitely want to break into IB as a junior, if possible, and while your experiences aren’t terribly impressive to IB, the bank names are strong and if you craft your resume right, you can showcase useful skills gained from them for IB and move from them.
