Internships

Im going to be getting a ton of hours over the years in the hospital and shadowing? I am interested in doing an internship this, and If possible the next couple of summers at Arkansas children's hospital. The internship is 10 weeks of research and clinical hours. 8 hours a day 5 days a week. How "good" does this look?

It seems like a great opportunity, but it doesn’t matter if something looks good. It’s what you put into it and what you get out of it.

Think of your application as a story. Everything in your application should tell a story about you and how you chose medicine and how being a doctor is the one thing in the world you want more than anything else. If the internship contributes to that–that’s wonderful and it’s a great opportunity you used wisely. If the internship is just one more item on your checklist of stuff you need to do --then it won’t impress.

Developing a CV appropriate for applying to med school is more than just checking items off some imaginary list. It’s about learning and growing and understanding what a career in medicine involves.

Yes being a physician I believe is my calling. More than anything I want to do in life. I can see now what your saying as a check list. But im trying to give myself every opportunity to succeed. Thank you for the replies!
