I do independent study through UNL and I was wondering if anyone knew if it were possible or knew of ways to go about getting internships. The kids that I know of all get their internships through the high school programs. I'm interested in getting into the neurosciences in college, so maybe something in the medical field? So, do I just call up the local hospital and see if they have anything to offer me? Any ideas would be wonderful. Thanks!

There is a wonderful book called The Internship Bible by Mark Oldman which lists hundreds of opportunities with contact numbers, criteria, etc. I've seen it in our public library and I know that Barnes & Noble carries it as well. Perusing a book like this can give you an idea what types of internships are out there.

After that, tell all the working adults you know that you are interested in an internship in the medical field. The easiest way to get in is through someone you know. Network! Make a list of all the people you know who work in or around the field, and call them or send them a letter.

Good luck! Let us know how it works out.

Hey thanks! Great suggestion. I will definitely check that one out. I really appreciate that!
