catsushi & missy: The OP was joking about the low shirt/high skirt business.

Wow, I’ve said this once before, but people are SO serious on this board. Mommusic’s right. I was just kidding.

Kristina,
Swap the pink shirt for a white or black tank of a different material (I can’t tell if your shirt’s silk or cotton or what..ha, I’m blind). Add black heels (or flats if you can’t wear heels) and a necklace or earrings but not both and you'll look super hot. How are you doing your hair? Also, if you feel too “exposed” wearing a tank, just try a different color shirt that hits you right at the top of the skirt (again, I prefer black, but definitely make it a solid)

Oh, and if your interviewer’s female you may want to add a cropped blazer. If it’s a male forget it.

Definitely no hijacker. We should all post our interview pics. That would be fun.

Actually, I changed my mind about the jewelry. Do you have a silver cuff bracelet? It would look fabulous with the skirt.

There was very clear sarcasm in the cleavage comment. Calm down, everyone.

If you want to clearly display sarcasm, then post a video of yourself saying whatever you had typed. Sarcasm doesn't work well when there is no tone of voice or facial expression. I kind of got the sense that you were joking, but I still felt it necessary to add a response. :) You'd be surprised at how many girls out there think it's okay to flaunt their cleavage for interviews/work place/classrooms/etc.

Actually, I wonder what would happen if you went to an interview in tight leather pants?

Thanks for the input, catsushi and Isabella.

So a tank top doesn't make it too informal?? I have like a black beater type shirt (that looks pretty nice)... would that work? Man, I'm soo limited in terms of niceish clothing. All I have is t-shirts, and shirts that are too low cut lol

Oh, like the girl from Grease? I'd look h0tt. Totally going to try that for my Harvard interview.

Just need to get a perm and find those red high heels:
Grease Photos

Really must go now. Have homework to do.

I think the outfit you have now is perfectly fine. It looks cute and cheerful and will make you look good.

I don't buy that. Usually when something sounds that ridiculous, it's sarcasm. My statement was, after all, a complete non sequitur.

Sarcasm is not based from tone of voice or facial expression. Content plays a significant role. A sarcastic TONE, on the other hand...

And yet, if you can pick up on a sarcastic tone in literature, you should be able to notice it here.

Haha, didn't sound ridiculous to me. Guess I have a lack of faith in guys.

no, don't do a black beater. I was thinking more of a nice tank top. hmm... let me think about it while I do my homework.

Isabella.

Sorry about the misinterpretation, but you'd be very surprised at what people think is acceptable for an interview. This was the first year I've been in charge of hiring interns at work (tax firm) and you'd be surprised at the people who come in with jeans, facial piercings, and other unacceptable attire. During the summer we got the weird ones; I had one guy come in - recent high school grad, so-so r

Okay, so about those low-cut shirts...are they really too low-cut? Because if they're nice they might work and you can just wear a coat over it. I was more aiming at the color change. I think anything black/white and a bit more fitted would look great on top. The beater might work. Not really sure, I’d have to see it. Try it on and see what you think. If all else fails you certainly could just wear the pink shirt. I mean, it’s only an interview for Brown. I like a continuous line of color from head to toe because it slims and elongates the figure, but I guess it's not that important.

Good luck!

kristina,

i agree with isabella
wear a nice black shirt or something black on top.

as long as its not cold, which it is here in the midwest!! brrr
you could wear short sleeves? more fitted i would say.
the skirt is really pretty tho

Isabella, I am utterly unable to gauge the sarcasm level of that post. "I mean, it’s only an interview for Brown" threw me off a bit... ha ha

dietcoke: Thanks-- that's the least casual skirt I have :D

I don't haaave "a nice black shirt or something black on top" :/

^^^Got a sharpie?

:D

As I say, the internet has no intonation - I wasn't being sarcastic, sorry if it came across like that.

I just meant to say that if you can't seem to find a black top, then don't worry too much, since it's just an interview for Brown and they aren't going to nitpick over an outfit which will have absolutely no influence over your admission. And besides, it looks fine! But you should definitely try on that black beater. It may turn out great.

Also everyone should remember that unless you are blatantly rude or condescending it is really hard to cause these interviews to go awry. Stop worrying about it!

I'm worried about running out of things to say/ask about.
