uh oh! i just realized that i totally forgot to send out a thank-you note to my interviewer, who interviewed me over a month ago....will this hurt my chances for admission?

just send it now... i dont think it is that big of a deal.. unless your interviewer is super old and a stiff

it's been over a month already...i'm afraid that sending it now wont look too impressive since he'll be receiving it so late? won't this draw attention to that problem? he seems like a very busy type of guy so hopefully he wont remember that i havent sent him anything yet. but after filing that written report and sending it to rice immediately following the interview......the alumnus's job is over, right? should i still send it in?

just forget it now.....or wait a week or two and send him a hand written X-mas card.

good idea...thanks!

Well, if your intentions are purely out of courtesy, then by all means, send him a card. However, if you're worried about a poor review from your interviewer, it's far too late now, he has already sent in the report. Besides, a thank-you note is definitely not necessary and not sending one will certainly never hurt you.

For what it's worth, what I write about a student after the interview is not affected by whether or not they send me any kind of note. It's a nice gesture, but it's not really necessary, at least to me. I make some notes when I am talking to them, and I write down some more notes just after they leave, and those are what guide the writeup that they get.

And just for a point of comparison, I didn't send a thank-you to the guy who interviewed me, and I still got in. ;-)
