Hey i have an interview this friday, and so I would like to prepare for it asap.

What are some of the questions that the interviewer may ask?

I could only come up with a few:

Daily activities
Significant event
Accomplishments and what they mean to you
Personal attributes of which you are most proud
Abilities that will make you a leader
Why Brown?
Why intended major?
How will you contribute to the Brown community?
What kind of classes would you take your freshman year if you were to go to Brown?

Also, what are some of the questions that may impress the interviewer if I ask him?

I don’t think my interviewer asked any of these questions. All Brown interviews are conducted differently; mine was just a conversation over coffee about my life and my interviewer’s experiences at Brown. I don’t think there are specific questions you can ask to “impress” your interviewer: just be genuine and ask about things you’re interested in. If nothing else, ask your interviewer something about their experience at Brown. We all love talking about this school.

One thing my interviewer told me was that Brown likes to know that you show real interest in the school, and are not applying on a whim. Now that it is so easy with the common app, its not rare that students apply to 10-15 schools. Make sure you know your facts going in, and don’t be afraid to show off your knowledge of Brown. They also list “level of interest” as one of the very important attributes while considering admission’s decisions…

I just had my interview. It seemed like he was really interested in why I wanted to go to Brown, and making sure that my motivations were genuine.

Also-- ask questions that you want to know the answers to???

Trying to manipulate the system by saying things you think they want to hear makes you look like you’re only after the name-brand, which is NOT what Brown wants.

haha i just had my interview yesterday. my interviewer seemed to be impressed at my youtube vid. our conversation was really informal, there wasn’t really any hard questions.

Definitely have to agree with cookcfc. My interviewer asked ‘why brown’ both directly and indirectly at least twice. I’m a gap year student, so having just returned only a few days earlier from India, jet lagged, it felt great to talk to an interviewer who had also just gotten back from his own trip.
