Interview questions

Hi, I applied SCEA and submitted my app about October 25th, and I have not had an interview. I live relatively near campus, so there should presumably be a few alumni around, and in the next town over, I know at least one person got an interview, and he submitted later than I did.

I think if they really were considering me, they would have found an interviewer, and quite honestly, that kind of hurts.

Has anyone been accepted without an interview? Or should I give up hope, and just brace myself for the rejection?

If you don’t get an interview, it has absolutely no bearing on your admission. It does not hurt or affect your admission at all.

Again, whether or not you get an interview generally has nothing to do with how strong an applicant you are. The admissions office sorts applicants based on region, and those names and contacts are all sent to the head of the regional alum club. Those names are then assigned to various volunteers. Your friend was likely assigned a different interviewer. It’s possible that your interviewer just dropped the ball on this one. Sometimes, regional heads are very aggressive about making sure all interviewers get their reports in on time, but some are a bit less hands on and just give the interviewers the benefit of the doubt.

The reason why there’s a ceiling on how important interview reports are, and in part, it’s because the admissions office anticipates situations like this happening.

Thank you both so much for the reassurance. I was just so worried today and freaked my parents out because they didn’t understand why I was crying and I couldn’t tell them because they would worry even more than I already do.

Classic college app stress…

But thank you so much again!

I was contacted for my interview exactly a week ago which was weeks later than many other people. There still may be hope =)
