Interview: still have a chance to get in?

Does college try to interview eveyone that applies, or is there a cut after which they interview those who make it through? Does an interview indicate that you still have a chance to get in?

I believe all candidates, no matter how poor, have the opportunity for an interview. However, I might be mistaken.

even for those who have bad stats and get rejected? will it be a waste of time for them?

It depends on the colleges. Some colleges don't interview at all.

Interviews serve different purposes at different colleges and may be required, optional or not considered at all depending on the college. It is important to check the website of each college you are considering to know if the interview is informational or evaluative and how they are scheduled.
