Hello everyone,
I had my Yale interview this morning and it was fair. It was conducted differently from my past interviews. The people in charge of the Yale club in my city had two Saturdays at the HYP club in our city during which they would conduct interviews, and mine was assigned for today. I did not know which interviewer I would get ahead of time, and would get whichever one was ready to conduct another one when I signed in.
As I mentioned, the interview was fair.
When I got home, I realized that I did not know enough about the interviewer to send her a thank-you note (I COMPLETELY forgot about this, probably because of my nerves). She had only introduced herself with her first name, which I did not hear, or think to ask her to repeat, and as I said earlier, I had had no correspondence with her.
Is it a problem if I don’t send a thank-you note? I don’t think I have a way to reach her. I emailed one of the people in charge of the Yale club to ask if she knew the email for my interviewer, but if she does not know who that was, I do not know what to do. I know what she looks like, but I am afraid that if I confess to not knowing her contact information, it will seem irresponsible.
Any input is appreciated.
No. If you don’t know the person’s name, or contact information, you cant 't write a thank you note – and that’s fine. The impression you made (or didn’t make) will not be impacted one iota by the lack of a thank you note. FWIW: My son didn’t write a thank you note to his Yale Alumni interviewer and he was accepted. Ditto with my daughter for her Harvard alumni interview. I would just let it go.
Thank you @gibby !!!
I agree with @gibby. I would not worry about a thank you note. It may have been nice and the fact that you want to send one shows you were raised by great parents.
Thanks @Tperry1982 !! I actually contacted the person that set up the interviews at the HYP club, and sent her an email just asking if she knew my interviewer’s email so that I could thank her, and she said that she would forward my message to her because they can’t give out emails.
^^^that’s good
