Interview Thread Specifically For NYC

I just got my time (the 27th at 2). I read on another thread that there are two people, which sounds like unnecessary pressure. What did you talk about?

Both my son and daughter had their interviews at the Harvard Club in NYC. Each were interviewed by two alumni over the course of an hour. Topics ranged from politics to books to what has been your bigest failure to what you would do to improve your high school. See: [Sooo… Tell Me About Yourself: Current Interview Questions: Harvard University](http://www.soootellmeaboutyourself.com/2009/12/current-interview-questions-harvard.html)

@CSIHSIS: The interview should be no different than other interviews conducted anywhere else…

The purpose of having two interviewers rather than one is not to intimidate applicants. Rather, it’s the result of NYC being a hotspot for alumni, and with that, more volunteers than applicants. This situation is usually exactly reversed in most other locations in the US and the world–that is, there are usually not enough interviewers.

Because HCNY really wants to engage all their alum volunteers, the interviewers are paired up. Again, I think it could be perceived by some applicants as a more stressful situation, but you should be aware that it’s not designed with that purpose in mind.

Well no, not really. My Georgetown interview was just about what I do related to school and why I wanted to go there, but it sounds like this one is about the real world.

It really depends on the interviewers. The admissions office does not provide a list of questions, so it’s entirely up to the interviewer(s).
