Interview with dean of admissions

jksbond - I promise that will not do you in! Good point about the website. And I know that your essay is totally going to get you into. . .Penn! ;)

You will not get rejected for using it, calm down. I mean, if you used Upenn, upenn, UPENN, etc, then it might be a bigger deal. And if you said how great of a college town State College is, then you'd really be in deep trouble. Its just that the only time UPenn is used is on the website and email addresses, nobody at Penn actually refers to the school as UPenn. If you browse the DP online (highlighter on google is awesome for this) you will see that Penn is always used except with emails.

ya sry i get a lil stressed easily since my school is so competitive - i think 20 people are ed'ing from my school alone to PENN. so every little thing counts considering they only accept 2-3 per year according to our school records! I just didn't know that "upenn" is improper since i hear it all the time and browse upenn.edu, and just saw the website days after submitting my app. thanks all and good luck to everyone applying

its not necessarily improper. i, for one, destest it though. I just dont like the way it sounds. I cant find the word for it. Cheesy? idk....

Wow, I can't believe there's a two page thread on what Penn should be referred to as! haha, but hey, I'll participate!

Let's see, I used University of Pennsylvania once, and the rest are all Penn.

how about penn change it's name to kingston... so it's even more prestigious than princeton? haha

aka the capital of jamaica? i think that might actually lower its prestige... even kingston's nicknamed "trenchtown"

"Wow, I can't believe there's a two page thread on what Penn should be referred to as! haha, but hey, I'll participate!" ~ haha, i agree, but hey, conversations get started about the weirdest things...

i used University of Pennsylvania at the beginning and end of my essay, and then mostly Penn in between. Really, i think they just prefer Penn over UPenn just because they're too lazy to say a two-syllable word rather than a one-syllable one lol.

It really should have been Franklin University, of course.

cujoe...i know people who go to penn, too...cause i do...it really doesn't matter what anyone calls it in the app...just that everyone i know here calls it Penn...probably because it requires less effort...but "UPenn" in not official...you won't find any t-shirts or sweatshirts or blankets or mugs or lanyards or shot glasses with that on them...they all say "Penn."

Penn = 4 letters. on a jacket, you can evenly divide the word into two letters on each side. that's the reason Penn apparel only says Penn instead of UPenn.

haha, jk jk. that's just my thought. ^.^

You can just as easily put one letter smack dab in the middle and two on each of the sides...haha

not if the jacket is a zip up - you can't zip through a letter! lol

Touche chi...touche :)

haha, are you by any chance a friend of 26e? cuz he calls me chi too, along with a plethora of other nicknames lol and i was thinking of the zip up jacket cuz my friend has it - even tho his number one is U of Chicago, he wears the Penn jacket a lot! lol

haha no i just called you that because its shorter..and i probably have heard other people calling you it...specifically 26e i guess??...but not friends..yet

Why can't we be friends; Why cant we be friends? continues chorus*

"......." don't know the rest of the lyrics

lol, 26e, is that your cry for friendship??

26e...im touched..truly..haha :)

naturally.
