What an ironic country for the democracy specialist to be giving an interview...

That's funny that the person interviewing Amy Gutmann even says that most in china confuse Penn with being a public, state school like Penn State. He asks her why Penn's reputation was far behind that of its Ivy counterparts and that it was probably because the name sounds like a state school. I thought that was rather amusing.

Amy Gutmann came and spoke at my school in Atlanta and we had afew really ghetto kids come in and started asking her all about "Penn State." She kind of blew them off about that though.

To clarify, he didn't say it was 'far behind Ivy counterparts...' just HYP and implicitly S..

For anyone that might get satellitle chinese tv, she did an interview on CCTV 4 about 2 weeks ago. My mom showed me, she expressed a lot of interest in recruiting more mainland kids to study aboard at penn, which I found interesting.

Johnny..you're right. I didn't mean it that way. He just stated the question as to why Penn's reputation was far behind HYP. I always wonder why some schools have a higher brand name than others. I don't think it's because Penn sounds like a state school. I really don't think that matters much. Maybe it just doesn't get as advertised as HYPS.
