I requested an alumni interview for Tufts after submitting my application, but I got into my early action ivy school, and now I want to cancel. I don’t want to be rude, so is it okay if I cancel or should I just follow through with the interview? I know interviews at Tufts are optional anyways.
you should mail tufts and withdraw you application. Thus they will not consider you and can more time on students who dont have great options like you have.
As an alumni interviewer I would consider it much more rude to go through with the interview if you’re 100% certain that you won’t attend Tufts if admitted; in that case it would be a waste of my time, and I only have so much time I can dedicate to interviewing prospective students each admissions season. If that’s the case then I agree with @SandDad that you should withdraw your application (and save the admissions committee’s time, too).
On the other hand, if you haven’t yet made up your mind despite your EA acceptance elsewhere then it would be a good opportunity for you to talk about the school with an alum.
As an interviewer for the school that DID accept you, I fully concur with hebrewhammer. Cancel the interview.
We don’t have enough volunteers to interview. If someone accepted an interview with me with no intention of attending, it means another student who would LOVE to interview with me, is left without.
