Interviews for Internationals

What’s Dartmouth’s policy on alumni interviews for international students? When will they start telling applicants about these interviews?

Thanks.

If an alumnus is available to and willing to interview you, he/she will contact you. I think they begin about a month aftter the application is submitted, so you should - if you are to be - be contacted before February.

^ its also possible to do phone interviews i think

Alumni interviewers will start contacting you between now and early February for interviews. Interviewers need to finalize their reports by mid-Feb, so if you haven’t heard yet, you would by then. All this assumes that there is an alum in the area that can manage those interviews. An area like London may have alumni to handle the interviews, but maybe rural Russia might not have anyone. If you don’t hear about an interview, it won’t be held against you because it’s not entirely your fault we alums couldn’t get to you. But do check your emails so you don’t miss it. We need to report back to the college and I’m sure I’ve had to report “Never responded to multiple emails for an interview” when it kept kicking to their spam folder.

As for phone interviews, yes we technically can do them but it’s a last resort. We always prefer in-person interviews, then Skype, finally phone only if desperate.
