I’m an international student, admitted into Texas A&M, U of Minn-Twin Cities, RIT and UMass Amherst. (and SJSU, but I don’t really prefer that). I’m interested in doing research at the undergrad level, & looking to minor in some liberal arts course (not sure which). I’m looking for a liberal, creative atmosphere with intellectual vibes.
As of now I’ve received $20k scholarship from RIT and $12k from Mass. I’ve received admission in UMass in “Undeclared-Engineering Track”, so I’m a bit apprehensive, but I’ve heard it’s not that hard to switch into CompSci after freshman year.
RIT’s co-op program appeals to me, as does SJSU’s proximity to Silicon Valley. But the other two universities also have great figures in terms of graduates getting good jobs.
Which would be great for me in this situation? Anything to add to the discussion is appreciated.

TAMU is extremely conservative, not liberal. Minnesota has a creative vibe and also has lots of research opportunities and minors There is a lot to explore there in Minneapolis and Saint Paul. I think you would live it there (my daughter goes there).
Well thank you but it’s pretty much between UMass and RIT now because they’re giving me scholarship. What would you suggest between those two?
Well see i am going to umass Amherst as a freshman this year for mechanical engineering. As per my research and some talk with my aunt( she work there) umass Amherst is the best for computer science among the options u got.
Umass Amherst also got wide network of alumni for future opportunities
Why not SJSU? If you want to work in SV, it’s a great place to go.
Otherwise, UMass is not a bad choice esp. since you have the scholarship.
@insanedreamer -i wanna get more into research tbh.
no one’s suggesting rit? why not? it’s got a great program.
