about two weeks ago i went and saw the musical into the woods performed by the webster u conservatory. it was AMAZING!!! i think part of the reason i enjoyed the show so much was that i had never seen itw so the plot was totally surprising to me. but the talent in this show was out of this world. if any high schoolers havent considered attending this program they definately need to!!! i have heard that the mt program has a heavy acting emphasis...and there are sophomore cuts. its a very competitive program but if you are good you should definately apply.

iacboi,

What a nice compliment regarding Webster's production of "Into The Woods". I had hoped to see the show myself, but our plans didn't work out like we had hoped. My twins sons attend Webster and they also said the show was wonderful, in fact one of them had to work costume crew.

As I write this my husband and I are sitting in my sons' apartment getting them ready to move out. They are just finishing their freshman year here. It's been a positive first year and we are excited about their next few years here. I must admit though that I am more excited to have them back home for the summer....they have some great things lined up for the next couple months.

iacboi, I hope you have been motivated to look into Webster! Take care.

This isn't about Webster, but about TWINS! We went to see Kiss Me Kate at Syracuse over the weekend and it was fantastic. But even though I only "know" you from this board, I couldn't help but think of you because two of the main characters in the show "Man #1" and "Man #2" were twin boys! And they absolutely stole every scene they were in, which was a lot. They were so funny and had such terrific comic timing together, not to mention being dancers and singers. They are apparenlty juniors in SU's program. Just thought I'd let you know that I was thinking of you and your boys! I'm sure they will be stealing the show at Webster before you know it!

nydancemom,

WOW! That is so great!! That must have been a wonderful show, and I am so happy you were thinking of us all...CC has created this wonderful MT "family"! I had heard a few years ago that there were twins going to Emerson, I think....they were identical also.

If I might mention briefly, my guys were just recently cast as Eugene and Stan in an equity production of "Brighton Beach Memoirs". They haven't taken the stage in over a year and are anxious to do so...not to mention play opposite one another. As you mentioned about the twins at Syracuse, they have that uncanny chemistry and play off of one another so brilliantly. It will be a fun summer!

As I write this they are attending their interviews with faculty members...we are almost done packing their things...now the fun work, cleaning!

Thanks again nydancemom!! ;) Take care!

5pant - Do they really have a sophomore cut at Webster, as mentioned above? I must have missed that if it is true.

Okay, I'd like to answer this one! : )

Webster has no such thing as a sophomore "cut". We do have a system though that allows the faculty to ask a student to leave. The faculty are allowed to do this at any time, but can only do it to a student who is on probation. Probation is a status only put on if a student ended up failing a conservatory class. During the semester, if a student may possibly fail a class, they may be put on what is called Warning. This is their "notice" that they might want to seek some help so they don't fail. If they fail, probation happens. If you are on probation though, that doesn't mean you will have to leave. During probation, a student works outside of class with a tutor and meets often with the instructor. If you are asked to leave, you can usually sense it coming, and it just so happens that most people are asked to leave at the end of the sophomore year during the sophomore interviews. A "cut" system is a system where a program is designed to get their number down to a particular few. Webster will take the ones they feel are ready to go onto the next semester. Webster has been working very hard to stay away from the cut system, they assure the students that they never strive for a particular number, if 25 kids are ready to go on... they will, if only 8 are... they will.
