introduction to financial accounting

im taking intro to financial accounting as an elective for summer school im an art history major there is no prerequisites for this course and its open to all students has anyone ever taken this course is it mostly theory or will i be doing a lot of math is it a difficult

accounting is like the least theoretical thing you could study. I thought it was pretty easy. I think accounting is one of those things you have or you dont.

financial accounting is pretty fun and easy.
i struggled with managerial accounting though.

Same with me, I'm taking financial accounting and managerial accounting concurently this semester and I think managerial is much more difficult.

At my school, financial accounting is much harder.

financial accounting is very easy. the homeworks can get very long and annoying(well, its accounting) but overall its an easy A+ class.

it all depends on where you take it also.

for example.. if you take financial or managerial accounting at a top 5 UG business school, it'll be a lot more difficult than your state school.

I think financial is way easier than managerial for some reason, I got an A in financial accounting, and after taking the final for managerial I think I got a D out the course, and I'm going to have to retake it sucks really.

I think people don't realize that accounting is all about rules--it's more like law than math--even though there is a lot of math involved.

I'm a CPA in two states, and the most important thing in financial accounting is to understand the four major financial statements (P.S. There are now official five major financial statements, although the fifth is very rarely taught). Also, it is very important to understand the accounting cycle, and how the financial statements are put together.

My son is taking financial accounting this summer also--I wonder if you two will be in the same class? (seems unlikely if you are taking this in Canada).

As far as grading, it depends on where you take it. My son got the syllabus already from the instructor--and on the syllabus it says that the instructor aims for a 2.7 GPA average (B-) in his classes. So, obviously his class won't be an easy A.
