Hey everyone! I got accepted to Bucknell Early Decision 2 and was accepted Early Action at my other top choice Furman! I have until March 7th to put down my deposit for Bucknell, but am still concerned about being an introvert at Bucknell. Can any current student or recent alumnus give me insight or tips on being an introvert in a Greek heavy school? And does joining a Residential College for the first year help? Thank you!
I too was accepted as an ED 2 so I don’t know exactly what I’m talking about. However, from what I read it appears that although it’s a very greek-oriented school, you can still survive socially without attending one.
Chances are if your social circle in HS was enough for you, you’ll get by in Bucknell just fine.
These might help give you a broader perspective:

See you next fall!
Someone else can chime in with answers to the rest, but I wanted to put in a plug for the residential colleges. Yes, I think it will help you socially as you are taking classes and living with the same group of students (no - every student in your hall won’t be in your classes, but you will be in the same dorm on the same few floors). Plus there are planned activities for students in the res. colleges so you would get to meet people that way (plus do some cool things!). And - you get the best dorms!
Another yes from me to the residential colleges! No down side as far as I can see. My D is a sophomore at Bucknell who enjoyed her residential college experience so much that she ended up as a Junior Fellow in one this year.
Thank you @benreb and @momofzag for your insight, I am definitely going to join a residential college, I just have to narrow it to one! See you in fall @bgoom515 !!!
My advice is to pick the residential college that has the freshman seminar that is most interesting to you.
And I would also recommend trying to do a pre-orientation program. Great way to meet people. Buckwild is supposed to be fun for those who like the outdoors (and even those who aren’t particularly experienced with those activities - they have activities for all levels). I have heard good things about Building on Foundations (community service oriented experience) and also the Arts pre-orientation program as well.
