It is my understanding that Tulane has a great business school, and also a great finance program, but I'm wondering what the chances are of getting into investment banking after completing an undergraduate finance program. Is it a target, semi target, or non target, and what, if any, firms recruit on campus? Thanks for the help

I can’t speak for the business students but I do know that within the physics department, we have alumni on Wall Street who are looking to hire Tulane graduates with quantitative skills. I wouldn’t say big investment banking is the traditional route that students follow post-graduation but it is certainly one option available to qualified students.

Agreed. Tulane is not a magnet for investment banking firms like Harvard or Wharton, but on the other hand there are a number of Tulane b-school grads that are doing quite well in i-banking. There was a lot of discussion about this a year or two ago on here.

Bottom line, Tulane will give you an absolutely first rate education in finance and related subjects, and with a little initiative a good student can definitely find the right opportunity. Also, I seem to remember reading fairly recently that Tulane helps arrange for career prospect trips to both New York and Houston. You might want to inquire with the business school about that.
