A few days ago I got an email suggesting I apply to Penn. I also got a separate email offering to waive the admissions fee. My grades and activities are towards the lower end of Penn's range. Any idea why they sent this to me? I am not an URM.

i think they do this so they can reject you. it makes them look as if they are a more competitive school by lowering their acceptance rates.

Haha that could very well be the case deepal! I know Penn’s been working on their marketing skills quite a bit…but still go ahead and apply! You never know! A free app never hurts :-)

It’s a commercial letter basically… Well partially because they want good people to apply but also because they want to lower their acceptance rate or to earn money :P

It’s because your academic credentials are a good match and Penn is trying to improve their marketing. Look into it, and if you like the school you should apply

what did you get on PSATs?

free app, well heck why not
