My daughter got accepted the High Point today. Does the invitation for the presidential weekend come with the acceptance or does it come separately. I am sad that she may not have been given enough of a scholarship to attend.

@DKorn13 I received the acceptance letter in the mail today, and it came with a $7,000 base merit scholarship and an invitation to the interview weekend to increase the scholarship award.

@Reedsb – was your merit scholarship indicated on your MyHPU page? My son’s acceptance is indicated there with an invitation for the leadership program but no mention of a scholarship. Letter has not arrived in the mail yet (we are overseas and it could take a while….).

@reedsb it came with a $5000 merit based scholarship, but not mention of increase. Just an invite to a Scholarship reception during freshman orientation. Does that mean she has no chance to increase it?

@DKorn13 – can you see the scholarship on your D’s MyHPU page? Thanks!!

@charliedog I just checked myHPU and I also got the application invitation to the leadership fellows program. I do not see the scholarship offer online, but it was on my mailed letter. You may want to wait till the letter comes in, or you can email your son’s admission counselor. I don’t want to give you a definite answer as I do not know 100% how it works.

@DKorn13 Email your daughter’s admission counselors, but I am afraid not :/.

@reedsb – Thanks, I will first wait for the letter. My S is definitely within the range to get some $$ so we will see. Unfortunately we have a general strike here tomorrow so no mail until Tuesday at the earliest.

@DKorn13 Congratz to your daughter on her acceptance! I got my HPU acceptance letter in the mail on the 13th. In my acceptance letter is stated the initial merrit based scholarship offer and then said I was invited to attend the presidential scholarship and program weekend and a formal invitation would arrive in the mail soon. If your daughter’s letter didn’t say you were invited to interview then I don’t think she will have a chance to increase her merrit based scholarship.

Does anyone know if applications to the honors program or leadership fellows program have an impact on presidential scholarships? I was invited to apply to both programs and I was wondering if it is it possible to be a member of both? Also does anyone know when you can expect to hear back about acceptance into the programs?
Thanks!

I am going to have her call. Seems counterintuitive to base it on unweighted GPA. She has 8 AP courses, 9 honors courses and 3 A level courses other than her electives. If I had known, I would have had her take lower level classes and get straight A’s, but she likes the challenge of the other classes. UGH. Thanks for eveyones help.

Yes, same here. My D got acceptance letter with $7,000 initial scholarship and then a few days ago got the official invite to the Presidential Scholarship weekend. Not sure if she’s going to go since she’s gotten into her top choices, but still waiting to hear from Wake Forest and Miami. But I always tell her to keep all options open. Things can change at the last minute and don’t want her to say ifa, coulda, shoulda:0

I am curious about the formal invite for the Scholars weekend. Is it through the mail or just the email notification? She has received the email but not a letter invite.

I can’t remember where I saw it, but there was a reference to a full schedule for the weekend and we don’t have that yet (maybe arriving today via post). The 7:15am on Saturday is going to require some serious Starbucks. ;)

She received a beautiful invitation with the formal invite a couple of weeks after her acceptance.
Trusting, have you received the acceptance yet?

Hmm, no formal invite that I can remember. Yes, DD has received her acceptance letter, beautiful black booklet honors invite and scholarship weekend email invite. I will need to look through the Christmas letters again to see if it got mixed in with those! Thank you for responding so quickly, musicmom26.
