Okay, I'm not sure where I should post this, but I'm in this situation where I am dying to get some public opinions and CC is the only forum I go to.

AT&T has this iPhone offer where I can get the iPhone 3G for 200$ and a two-year contract.

Currently, I have an iPod Classic (newest one, came out last September - 350$), HP iPaq 210 (PDA - new also - 450$), and a pretty nice cell phone (t-mobile - 50$ phone).

Should I get the iPhone 3G, paying another 200$ plus a bit more every month, or should I stick with what I already have? What does the iPhone have to offer, that I won't have already, besides the fact that it is all 3-in-one.

how loaded are you?
how badly do you need to have all the features all the time (vs. carrying each device for when you think you’ll need it’s features)?

I just recently got the new iphone so I hope I can help

Looking from the music perspective, well you have an ipod and that has more memory than the 3G, so you would be able to enjoy more songs, lectures, videos, etc. The interface of the iPhone will provides more satisfaction though and videos of course will be much better on the 3G.

That PDA you have looks pretty nifty, and seems to have an online browser (it better at that price), yet it probably relies on wifi. The iPhone has internet just about everywhere, but if Berkeley is fitted with wifi all over campus (which I don’t know) then your PDA should do fine. The iPhone’s touch internet interface is one of the best I have experienced with a mobile. If your phone already gives you great internet (the real one that is) then you probably dont need an iphone.

What I like about it the most though is how organized i feel with it, my contacts, calender, mail, all synced with my mac, just makes life easier. In fact i have my Cal mail synced with the iphone mail, making it a lot easier to access.
You also have a premature GPS and an app store that can magnify many of the phone’s young interfaces. The only reason i would need my laptop would be for writing a document, because the 3G really can do everything else. Its battery life isnt all great though in comparison to other cell phones that don’t need to be charged for days. Then again you would have three cords for three devices.

Another alternative would be to get the ipod touch, since its just like the iphone except without the phone and internet service (its wifi)…but one too many devices would probably turn you into inspector gadet

Shah Rukh Khan, how did you sync your calmail to your iphone? I’ve been trying to figure out how for ages only to conclude that it wasn’t possible.

This link show how to do it, the main thing to keep in mind is to make create IMAP account and not a POP. I first did it as POP and I noticed that my mail from the server was being deleted, IMAP works perfect.

Eventhough this link is for the mail from iLife, it should work fine for the iphone direct setup process as well.
