Can anyone tell me about this organization? What does it cost to join? What are the benefits? Do you get priority when purchasing football tickets, even for single games?
Also, does anyone know what section the band sits in for football games? My incoming freshman is hoping to be in the band.
The football games are tons of fun. Glad your student is eager to experience them. In past years, IPTAY student membership has provided earlier access to tickets for games. For non students, depending on your IPTAY “level” you can earn points for playoff tickets, parking, etc.
We purchased an IPTAY student membership for our student freshman year, and it helped him get tickets ahead of time for a couple of highly sought after games (vs. camping out to ensure getting tickets for those events.) I think it was $40 that year. Page 27 of this site has IPTAY collegiate club info, I believe from last year (Fall 2015) – even though the file name says 2016. https://issuu.com/clemsontigers/docs/2016_info_brochure_final
I believe the band sits in the end zone near “Howard’s Rock.” However, you might consider posting these questions in Tigernet.com, which is a site/message board for all things football.
For visiting family, I believe students can usually get a limited number of guest tickets for single games, or tickets can usually be purchased from Stub Hub. (We have typically gone for less popular games, so I can’t vouch for the more popular events.) We found that tickets to the Orange Bowl and National Championship were also readily available through Stub Hub, even up to the day of the game for the Orange Bowl.
There has been a proposal to change the way student tickets are being handled this year, and that has not yet been fully resolved. Undoubtedly, that news will hit the Tigernet Board when more info comes out. I would think there will also be a letter or email to all students. Go Tigers!
We just went to Orientation the last two days, and went to an Iptay session. Students currently get free tickets…freshman get last pick, on Tuesday evenings. But if they join the Student Iptay for $40 a year, they get to pick with all other student Iptay members on Sunday evenings each week. Students are able to pay $10 to purchase one additional guest ticket except for a few of the expected sold out games, like when the Tigers play USC…no guest tickets for those games. BTW, there’s no need to “camp out” for the students to get tickets…it’s all done online these days. The mentioned changed (which is to charge students a $250 a year athletic fee to cover their ticket cost) has not been approved, and if not approved by July 1st, it won’t be in effect for 2016-2017. We did learn that for the first time in years the Clemson Band will have try outs as it’s become super popular these last few years.
